Welcome: Living in, from and for the Golden Room

by Thomas Cary Kinder

This site has a passionate and practical purpose, and you could call it vertically integrated.  It is rooted in the spiritual depths of our deepest heart’s core, its central metaphor came to me in a vision, it relies on poetry and photography to convey some of its meaning, and yet it also includes highly technical pieces on Life Planning, contemplative practices and solutions to problems that threaten our society and planet.  My name is Thomas Cary Kinder, and you can read about the background I bring to this site on the About page.

You can find help navigating and understanding this site in the Introductions, especially “Finding Your Way Around This Website.”

All are welcome to thegoldenroom.net who have within them their own Golden Room. This means you. Your Golden Room is the place in your depths where you find your divine spark or Spirit or God. In terms that theists and atheists alike might accept, your Golden Room is where you find your truest, best self, or your heart’s core truth, a torch that reveals the path and meaning of your life in this time and place. The golden glow in the room comes from that inner light, whether you see it in human terms or divine.

All are more than welcome here: all are needed here. We need to live in and from the Golden Room within us, and not only for our own good. The world’s transformation in the direction of well-being, compassion and peace depends on it.  I hope this site will help you live in, from and for the Golden Room.

Our true life lies at a great depth within us.
– Rabindranath Tagore

Jesus said, “If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.”
– Gospel of Thomas 70

With time and sincerity, you will discover a way to work… that is the deepest expression of your spirituality. You will find a voice that is not your voice only, but the voice of Reality itself…. If you can be empty enough, that voice can speak through you. If you can be humble enough, that voice can inhabit you and use you.
– Thuksey Rinpoche (quoted in The Sun, Sunbeams, March 2010)

If you want to awaken all of humanity, then awaken all of yourself…. Truly, the greatest gift you have to give is that of your own self-transformation…
– Hua Hu Ching 75, attributed to Lao Tzu
